Brummel hook separation system for QUICK-OUT or PARALOCK carabiners.
A Brummel hook release system for foot accelerators is required to enable complete separation of the main canopy after a reserve parachute deployment. The release occurs automatically after the carabiners are opened.
The Brummel hook separation system is recommended when the harness and paraglider are connected to each other by means of Brummel hooks.
The Brummel hooks on the harness are replaced by the special separation system Brummel hooks. In order to attach the separation system Brummel hooks, the foot accelerator ropes must each have a loop at the end.
Dyneema foot accelerator ropes with spliced loops are included in the scope of delivery of the Brummel hook separation system. These can be used provided they can be attached to the existing footrest.
Alternatively, the foot accelerator ropes already attached to the harness can be used if the Brummel hooks mounted there can be removed.
If there are no loops at the ends of the existing foot accelerator ropes, loops approximately 3 cm long can be knotted in.

Info Foot accelerator separation systems
- Modern rescue devices are designed to drift sideways, thereby generating dynamic lift. During the certification process, the sink rate is determined without the main canopy. A non-separated main canopy prevents drift, thereby increasing the sink rate.
- The ability to steer the rescue system and choose your landing site is a significant safety advantage. If the main canopy is not separated in steerable rescue systems, this safety advantage is lost.
- Interactions between the paraglider and the rescue device can increase the risk of pendulum motion or result in an increased sink rate due to a scissor position.
- Experience has shown that a separated main canopy usually collapses very quickly, making recovery easier. In addition, there is a significantly lower risk of damage to the paraglider if a tree landing is not made with the full weight of the pilot.
