The ICARO tandem spreader can be used as both a soft and hard spreader by removing or inserting the bar, depending on the pilot's preference.

In addition, the passenger can be hooked in higher or lower depending on their weight. This optimizes the trim and flight behavior of the tandem wing. Three different hook-in loops are provided for this purpose.
