The Charly Polarheat Light 2026 are lightweight, exceptionally sensitive heated paragliding gloves designed for pilots who want to maintain precise wing control even in cool temperatures. This new generation combines an optimized electric heating system with a waterproof Hipora membrane, soft Polartec fleece, and a flexible construction for maximum comfort.
Whether paragliding in the spring and fall, on summer high-altitude flights, or during hike-and-fly adventures—the Polarheat Light provides comfortable warmth without restricting finger mobility due to excessively thick insulation.
With three heat settings, high-performance lithium-polymer batteries, and a heating duration that can be extended up to ten hours, the Charly Polarheat Light heated gloves are a versatile solution for pilots who want to combine warmth with finger sensitivity.
At the heart of the Charly Polarheat Light 2026 is the redesigned electric heating system with flexible textile heating wires.
Unlike many conventional heated gloves, the heating elements run along the sides of the fingers and across the fingertips. This directs heat specifically to areas that are particularly sensitive to the cold.
The optimized heating wire layout promotes efficient heat distribution. At the same time, the protected position between the fingers reduces heat loss to the outside.
This is a decisive advantage, especially when paragliding: Warm, flexible fingers make it easier to precisely operate brakes, risers, and flight instruments.
The Polarheat Light 2026 features three individually selectable heat settings. Using the built-in control knob, you can adjust the heat output to suit the current temperature and flying conditions.
A built-in battery charge indicator helps you manage your remaining heating power.
| Heat Setting | Heating Wire Temperature | 2 batteries total | 4 batteries total |
| Red – High | approx. 60 °C | up to 1 hr 45 min | up to 3 hrs. 30 min. |
| Blue – Medium | approx. 44 °C | up to 2 hours 30 minutes | up to 5 hours |
| Green – Low | approx. 22 °C | up to 5 hours | up to 10 hours |
The temperature specifications refer to the heating wires and not to the actual skin temperature. Battery life figures are manufacturer specifications and may vary depending on usage conditions.
Each glove has two battery pockets in the cuff. This allows the heating duration to be extended with additional batteries.
Another new feature is support for optional 19.24-Wh batteries. With a separately available extension cable, larger battery combinations can also be housed outside the gloves.
The new generation of the Charly Polarheat Light features a three-layer Hipora membrane that is waterproof, windproof, and breathable.
The high-quality nappa goatskin on the palm provides a comfortable grip and a durable contact surface.
Inside, a soft Polartec Micro Fleece keeps hands comfortably warm even when the heating is turned off.
Thanks to the relatively thin padding, the gloves remain particularly supple and sensitive. This makes them ideal for fluctuating temperatures, where heavily insulated winter gloves are often too warm or too bulky.
When paragliding, a good feel for the brake lines and risers is especially important.
The Charly Polarheat Light 2026 combines a flexible construction with a slim glove profile. This allows for precise control movements and comfortable handling of the equipment.
The long cuffs feature an internal drawcord with a flat, integrated stopper. This design minimizes protruding parts that could snag on paraglider lines.
In addition, touchscreen-compatible thumbs and index fingers allow you to operate compatible smartphones and flight instruments without having to take off your gloves.
The Charly Polarheat Light isn’t just for paragliders. Thanks to its lightweight construction and switchable heating, it’s also suitable for numerous outdoor activities.
When hike & flying, you can leave the heating off during the ascent and activate it only when conditions get cool during the flight.
The gloves also offer a practical combination of flexibility and extra warmth for ski touring, cross-country skiing, cycling, and horseback riding.
For prolonged exposure to extreme winter cold, however, the more heavily insulated Charly Polarheat Pro is the better choice.

This thermal imaging camera footage shows the layout of the heating wires in the CHARLY gloves and how they distribute heat throughout the entire hand: on the left, a cold hand without a glove; on the right, the same hand after a short time in the glove.
Unlike foil-based heating systems, which—due to their limited flexibility—can only be attached to the backs of the hands and fingers, the flexible textile heating wires in CHARLY heated gloves run along the sides of the fingers and across the fingertips. This is crucial for warming the entire hand, as it takes into account the body’s natural response to redirect blood away from the extremities and toward the body’s core in extreme cold, in order to supply vital organs.
The protected positioning of the heating elements between the fingers also has the advantage of minimizing heat loss to the outside. As a result, the gloves stay noticeably warmer for longer.

The new generation features a redesigned construction, optimized heating wire routing, and a waterproof Hipora membrane. It also supports optional 19.24-Wh batteries for longer heating times.
The Polarheat Light is lighter, thinner, and particularly responsive. It’s ideal for spring, summer, fall, and high-altitude flights. The Polarheat Pro offers stronger passive thermal insulation and is specifically designed for cold winter and XC flights.
With one standard battery per glove, the heating duration is up to 1 hour 45 minutes, 2 hours 30 minutes, or 5 hours, depending on the heat setting. With two standard batteries per glove, the heating duration extends to up to 10 hours.
Yes. The new generation features a waterproof, windproof, and breathable Hipora membrane.
Yes. Conductive material on the thumb and index finger allows you to operate compatible smartphones and touchscreen flight instruments.
Yes. Thanks to their lightweight, flexible construction, they’re particularly well-suited for Hike & Fly. The heating can be turned off during the ascent and activated during flight as needed.
In size M, the gloves weigh about 233 g per pair without batteries. A standard battery weighs 71 g. With two batteries, the total weight is therefore about 375 g.
Yes. Each glove has two battery pockets. In addition to the standard batteries, the 2026 generation supports optional 19.24-Wh batteries. The actual availability of these larger batteries must be checked separately.
