Reliable vario attachment to the paraglider cockpit

The self-adhesive hook tape is suitable for cockpits, instrument holders, and vario mounts with a suitable adhesive surface. It can be cut to size and is ideal for replacing existing Velcro fasteners.

The length is sufficient, for example, to completely cover the back of a Skytraxx 5. For optimal adhesion, the surface must be clean, dry, and free of grease.

Is the self-adhesive hook-and-loop tape suitable for all variometers?

The extra-strong self-adhesive hook tape can be cut to any size with scissors and is therefore suitable for all variometers and GPS flight instruments with a smooth adhesive backing, such as Skytraxx, XC Tracer, or Syride. A suitable loop surface is required on the counterpart or wherever the device is to be attached, e.g., on the cockpit, vario mount, vario holder, etc.

Can I stick the hook tape directly onto my paraglider cockpit?

No, the self-adhesive hook tape is applied to the variometer itself, which is then attached to the paraglider cockpit. The hook tape can be applied to all suitable, smooth surfaces on variometers. The adhesive surface must be clean, dry, and free of grease. Adhesion is limited on textile or textured materials.

What are the dimensions of the hook-and-loop tape?

The hook tape is 5 cm wide and 20 cm long. It can be cut to size with scissors and adapted to fit various variometers, GPS devices, and instrument mounts.

Is the hook-and-loop tape strong enough to securely attach a variometer?

The hook tape features an extra-strong adhesive backing and a robust hook structure. However, the actual holding force depends on the surface, the size of the hook-and-loop area, the condition of the hook tape and the loop surface, and the weight of the device. As long as the hook-and-loop surfaces are in good condition, it will securely hold all current variometers in the cockpit. For added safety, however, we always recommend using a loss prevention device or an additional device strap.

Is the matching loop side included in the package?

No. The package contains only the self-adhesive hook-and-loop tape measuring 5 × 20 cm. A matching loop surface is required for the hook-and-loop connection; this must either already be present on the variometer or be attached separately.

Can I reuse the self-adhesive hook tape multiple times?

The Velcro connection can be opened and closed as often as needed, as long as the hook and loop sides are in good condition. The self-adhesive backing, however, is intended for permanent installation and should be replaced after removal.

How strong is the Velcro connection of the self-adhesive hook tape?

The extra-strong hook-and-loop tape, when combined with a matching loop side, provides high holding power and is suitable for attaching variometers and GPS flight instruments to the paraglider cockpit or variometer mount. The actual holding power depends on the size of the hook-and-loop surface, the quality of the loop side, and the direction of the load. A specific holding force in kilograms is not specified. For maximum safety, we recommend additionally securing the variometer with a loss prevention device.
