With this book, I have written a comprehensive work on all the things that particularly interested me at the beginning. I know that many of my former students felt the same way. When asked for further reading beyond the textbooks, I usually recommended books on meteorology. If this book had been available, I think I could have sold it to almost every student. What's more, it contains so many tips and tricks that even old hands can learn something new.

What excites me most about flying is the playful interaction with nature. Everyone has learned in their flight training where, when, and why warm air rises. Finding these thermals, centering them, and climbing with them to the base is impressive. Then, targeting the next break line on your flight, arriving there, and actually going up again is just amazing. This alignment of theory and practice is always a special experience.
