The WindsRiders Everest Magnetic Muffs were developed for paragliders who refuse to compromise, even in freezing temperatures and at high altitudes. As the warmest paragliding muffs in the WindsRiders lineup, the Everest Magnetic Muffs—with their generous 700 cuin down filling—offer outstanding protection against the cold while remaining surprisingly lightweight.
The EVEREST MAGNET isthe ultimate paragliding muff—it was designed for the most extreme conditions! The best of the best! Fly at altitudes over 8,000 meters without your hands getting cold. It doesn’t get any better than this!
With a pair weight of only about 200 grams and a rated cold protection down to approximately −30 °C, the WindsRiders Everest is particularly well-suited for winter flights, long XC flights, and flights at extreme altitudes. The high-volume design not only encloses the hands but extends well past the forearm, thereby further reducing heat loss.
The current Everest Magnet version features a magnetic closure. Before takeoff, the sleeves are worn over the forearms with the magnetic closure open. After takeoff, once you’re in a stable flight position, slide them over the brake handles and close the magnetic opening.
This eliminates the hassle of closing a traditional zipper. According to the manufacturer, it takes only a few seconds to put them on. A small integrated Velcro strap secures the brake line within the designated guide channel without restricting its free movement.
Inside, your hand remains free and has direct contact with the brake handle and brake line. This preserves the familiar feel of control, while the generous down insulation protects your hands from extreme cold.
Cold hands can not only be uncomfortable while paragliding, but they can also impair fine motor skills. That’s why the WindsRiders Everest Magnetic Muffle relies on passive insulation rather than electric heating elements. You don’t have to charge batteries or worry about remaining battery life during a long flight.
Compared to the more compact WindsRiders K2 muffs, the Everest model is longer and bulkier. Larger and more densely filled down chambers provide additional insulation. This makes the Everest Magnetic ideal for frequent flyers and pilots who fly in very low temperatures or at high altitudes.
Thanks to their small pack size, the muffs can be stowed away in your harness or paragliding backpack after the flight to save space. For maximum warmth, we recommend pairing them with thin gloves. This way, your hands remain somewhat protected even when you need to take them out of the muffs—for example, to operate your vario or smartphone.
